PRIVAT LIVEMONT (1861-1936) [WOMAN PAINTING.] Decorative panel. 1901 27 3/4x20 1/2 inches, 70x52 cm. [L. Van Leer, Amsterdam.] Condition A: minor creases in image. Paper. Privat Livemont studied art in Brussels. In 1890 he won first prize in a competition sponsored by the Artistic Circle of Schaerbeek, his home town, thereby launching his career as a poster designer. For many years he was the sole designer of posters for the Artistic Circle, and then, in 1895 he dedicated himself almost entirely to commercial advertising. Like many artists of the era, Livemont also designed decorative panels. This image is one of two decorative panels, the other one is Woman Sculpting. Belle Epoque 72.
